Confirmation
Sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit
Confirmation is the sacrament by which the grace of Baptism is completed and strengthened. Through anointing with sacred Chrism and the laying on of hands, the confirmand receives the fullness of the Holy Spirit — deepening their bond with the Church and equipping them to live and witness their faith with greater maturity and courage.
At Holy Spirit Parish, Confirmation preparation is a partnership between the parish, school, and the home, following the Archdiocese of Brisbane's sacramental programme. Parents play an essential role, working through the lesson booklet with their child each week before attending the weekly parish session together.
Eligibility
Children in Year 3 or older are eligible to receive Confirmation. Your child must be a baptised Catholic. Regular Sunday Mass attendance is expected throughout the programme.
Children in Year 6 or older who have not yet received Confirmation and/or First Holy Communion may receive all outstanding sacraments in the one programme year.
2026 Programme
2026 Confirmation programme dates are yet to be announced. Please contact our Sacraments Coordinator or the Parish Office to register your interest and be notified when dates are available.
Enrolment Documents
When enrolment opens, you will need to bring the following:
- Copy of your child's Birth Certificate (not required if confirmed here last year)
- Copy of your child's Baptismal Certificate (not required if baptised at Holy Spirit)
- Administration fee — $40 (or $25 for each additional sibling receiving the same sacrament)
- Signed Family Law form (both parents must sign; attach any relevant court orders)
- Signed Photo & Media Consent form
- Signed Privacy Statement
