Serving Christ in the poor
The St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies) is a lay Catholic organisation dedicated to tackling poverty and disadvantage. Our parish conference works quietly and practically to assist people in need within our local community, providing material, emotional and spiritual support.
What We Do
Volunteers visit people in their homes to offer friendship and a listening ear alongside practical assistance. Help provided may include food vouchers and hampers, assistance with utility bills, clothing and household goods, and referrals to other support services.
All assistance is offered with respect for the dignity and privacy of those we help. Our work is funded through donations from the parish community and from our regular fundraising activities.
Joining the Conference
New members are always welcome. You do not need any special qualifications — only a willingness to give some time and a compassionate heart. The Society provides formation and support for all members.
